Bealtaine 2016

 

This May, Brewery Lane Theatre & Arts Centre will host three FREE events

as part of the nationwide Bealtaine Programme :

 

 

Tuesday 10th May 8:15pm  FILM - "A Walk in the Woods" (2015)

 

Travel writer Bill Bryson (Robert Redford) takes a long-lost old friend (Nick Nolte) for a hike along the

Appalachian Trail, which stretches more than 2,000 miles from Georgia to Maine.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 18th May 8pm  PLAY - "Midwife of a Nation" (2015)

 

Carnation Theatre presents an hour-long performance, unearthing the

dramatic role played by Cumann na mBan during the Easter Rising.

The performance brings to life the characters of 1916 in a coherent,

humanizing and entertaining way.

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 24th May 8:15pm  FILM - "Mr Smith goes to Washington" (1939)

 

When the idealistic young Jefferson Smith (James Stewart) winds up appointed to the United States

Senate, he gains the mentorship of Senator Joseph Paine (Claude Rains). However, Paine isn't as

noble as his reputation would indicate, and he becomes involved in a scheme to discredit Smith, who

wants to build a boys' campsite where a more lucrative project could go. Determined to stand up

against Paine and his corrupt peers, Smith takes his case to the Senate floor.When the idealistic
